Something amazing just happened and today we still can’t quite believe it. We are so proud to have been named the Pub Group of the Year at the National Pub & Bar Awards in London on 26th June.
The National Pub & Bar Awards, now in their eighth year, showcase the best loved pubs and bars up and down the UK. 94 pubs were crowned County Winners, including local pub The Plough in Normanton-on-the-Wolds, which won the 2024 crown for the best pub in Nottinghamshire.
From these County Winners, 13 Regional Winners were announced at 30 Euston Square in London, before The George Inn (Norton St. Philip, near Bath) was crowned National Pub & Bar of the Year.
We were over the moon to be shortlisted, along with four other pub groups, for Pub Group of the Year.
Also up for the accolade were our friends at Everards and St Austell, Southwold-based Adnams, and Devon’s Heavitree Brewery.
Castle Rock’s managing director, Colin Wilde, and marketing manager, Jessica Collins, accepted the award on behalf of the company.
Not expecting to win, we didn’t have a speech ready but when cheeky chap Mark Durden-Smith our host for the evening asked how it felt to take on the ‘big guns’, Colin was sure to state that wasn’t how we felt at all. In this industry, we’re all in it together.
He also applauded the Castle Rock team, who we couldn’t be more proud of. Ultimately it is the work of our pub teams, day in and day out, that have made it possible for us to gain this fantastic achievement. And while we were surprised to win the award alongside such hefty competition, we will always hold ourselves to the highest of standards. Our mission to run welcoming, safe pubs where quality is at the forefront of everything we do remains unwavering.
We are chuffed to pieces and so grateful to our customers for their kind words which have led to us receiving this award, and for allowing us to continue to do what we love.

Awards also included Bar Group of the Year, which was awarded to The Blues Kitchen, and the Tyrrells Tyrrellbly Good Taste Award went to Cheshire Cat Pubs & Bars’ Fitzherbert Arms.
